Frikadelli Racing to compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hours and Prototype Cup Germany in 2024

05.03.2024

After Frikadelli Racing's extremely successful 2023, which was crowned in a unique way with overall victory in the legendary 24h Nürburgring and the AM championship title in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, the plans for the 2024 motorsport season have now been finalized. The team from Barweiler will compete in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring with the Ferrari 296 GT3 to defend its title and will also contest the Prototype Cup Germany with the Ligier JS P320.

"Due to the many disputes surrounding the organization of the individual endurance races at the Nürburgring, we have decided to focus exclusively on the 24-hour race for our Nordschleife events this season. After more than 20 years in the series, this is not an easy step to take, but we want to stay completely out of this political issue and wait and see how things develop. We very much hope that there will be a consistent, coherent overall concept in the spirit of motorsport again in 2025," explains Team Principal Klaus Abbelen.

In preparation for the big highlight of the season on the first weekend in June, several test days are planned with the Ferrari 296 GT3, including possibly the two four-hour races for the 24h Qualifiers (April 13/14, 2024). The driver line-up will be announced at a later date.

Realignment in the LMP3 sector: Prototype Cup Germany instead of Michelin Le Mans Cup

After three years in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, Frikadelli Racing is taking on a new challenge in 2024 with the Ligier JS P320. Klaus Abbelen and Felipe Laser will compete together in the Prototype Cup Germany.

"During our guest appearance at the Nürburgring at the end of last year, we noticed that the racing series has developed very well. We are therefore looking forward to this new commitment," says Abbelen.

The Prototype Cup Germany starts from April 19-21, 2024 in Spa-Francorchamps.
