Frikadelli Racing participate in Nürburgring 24-hour race with Porsche 991 GT3 R

• Team principal Klaus Abbelen: “Overwhelming support by the fans”
• Eifel-based team welcomes the revised classification of the BoP Technical Committee

Good news for all friends and followers of Frikadelli Racing: After the initial announcement to withdraw the Porsche 911 GT3 R from the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife due to a disadvantageous classification within the Balance of Performance (BoP), the team now confirms that it will race at the German endurance classic. As originally scheduled, the car will be driven by team owner Klaus Abbelen, Sabine Schmitz, Patrick Huisman (NL) and Norbert Siedler (A).
“We were absolutely gobsmacked by the enormous response and the dismay that our fans expressed when we announced not to race our ,meatball‘ under the current regulations”, comments Abbelen.
“However, the BoP classification of the new Porsche 911 GT3 R has already been rectified for the third leg of the VLN championship and has again been adjusted recently. We can now accept the BoP numbers”, says Abbelen. “It remains to be seen if the steps have been sufficient. The practice sessions for the 24-hour race will reveal if we are able to compete on eye-level again. I am certain that the decision makers will keep an eye on the relative performances even during the event and that they will try to shape the BoP for all brands as fair as possible. That’s why we have full confidence in the Technical Committee.”
