Michelin Le Mans Cup & 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers - double program for Frikadelli Racing

17.04.2023

Next weekend Frikadelli Racing will be on the road at two weddings at the same time. While the season opener in Barcelona is imminent in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers are taking place at the same time. In cooperation with the Rinaldi Racing team, the squad of team boss Klaus Abbelen will start at both events.

“Both events are very important to us. At the 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers, it is important to use the driving time to be ideally prepared for the 24h race with our Ferrari 296 GT3. In the Michelin Le Mans Cup we want to get off to a good start with our Ligier JS P320. Having learned a great deal in the past two years in what is a completely new racing series for us, our goal in 2023 is to constantly fight for top 10 results,” says team boss Klaus Abbelen.

A packed field of 42 vehicles is expected at the start of the Michelin Le Mans Cup season in Barcelona, divided into 30 LMP3 cars and 12 GT3 vehicles. A total of 84 drivers from 27 different international teams compete. As in the previous season, Klaus Abbelen and Felipe Laser will take the wheel of the #30 Ligier JS P320 for the Frikadelli Racing team. In order to be ideally prepared for the coming weekend, the driver duo will already contest the official test day in Barcelona on Tuesday. The two free practice sessions and the bronze test then follow on Friday at the Circuit de Catalunya before qualifying and the first race of the season begin on Saturday.

At the same time, Nick Catsburg, David Pittard and Earl Bamber will take the wheel of the #30 Ferrari 296 GT3 at the Nürburgring on Saturday and will contest the 2-hour race as part of the qualifiers. Felipe Laser will join the driver line-up for the 4-hour race on Sunday.
