Successful start to the second third of the NLS season

After the great triumph at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring, Frikadelli Racing made a successful return to the Nürburgring Nordschleife as part of the fourth NLS race. With the #111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, "Jules" and Klaus Abbelen, together with Felipe Laser, finished second in the AM classification of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring. They were thus able to further extend their championship lead in the drivers' standings to the direct competition.

“Our goal at the end of the year is to win the AM championship in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring. With today's second place, we again collected a lot of points for this and made another important step. Unfortunately, a gradual flat tire due to a driven-in nail cost us time in the final stages of the race. With a bit more luck, we might have been able to achieve victory because we were within striking distance up to that point. It's a shame, but we'll attack again in the 6-hour race and try to clinch our third win of the season with the Cup car," says team manager Klaus Abbelen.

In the morning qualifying, Frikadelli Racing placed the #111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup in third place on the grid within the AM classification. A long Code 60 phase as a result of an accident ensured that the ranks were taken early in practice and it was no longer possible to improve times later on.

In the race, "Jules" took over the starting stint. The Brit not only showed a flawless performance on the track, but was also able to conjure up a new personal fastest lap on the asphalt this weekend. Klaus Abbelen continued the good performance of his team-mate before Felipe Laser took over the cockpit. He fought a spirited battle with the later class winner on the track until he had to be torn down by a slow puncture on the fourth lap. As it later turned out during the pit stop, a driven-in nail caused the problems. After the four-hour distance, Frikadelli Racing finally crossed the finish line in second place.

Driver Voices:

"Jules" (#111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup): "A good day for us, with which we can be very satisfied overall. It was a difficult race because, in addition to the slow puncture, we also had problems with the power steering. Despite this, the entire team did a brilliant job and we were able to extend our lead in the standings with second place. I am incredibly happy about it and I am also very happy about my new personal best time on the Nordschleife.”

Felipe Laser (#111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup): “It was nice to be back in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup with “Jules” and Klaus. Together we can look back on a good race. Above all, I am very pleased that the coaching with "Jules" is paying off more and more and that he was able to set his new personal best this weekend. The 6h race can continue like this in three weeks.”
