Barweiler (D), May 8, 2018. Frikadelli Racing is looking forward to the season’s highlight on the Nordschleife with high expectations: The cult racing team with Sabine Schmitz and Klaus Abbelen at the helm will tackle the oncoming 24-hour race Nürburgring with two Porsche 911 GT3 R. Both cars feature professional crews making the driver line-up the strongest in the team’s history. The red and white #30 car will be driven by Lance-David Arnold (D), Alex Müller (D), Wolf Henzler (D) and Porsche Young Professional Matt Campbell (AUS). The #31 sister car will be shared by Norbert Siedler (A), Felipe Laser (D), Marco Seefried (D) und Mathieu Jaminet (F). Both Prsches rae equipped with Dunlop racing tyres.

Having set the fastest lap time in qualifying practice for the six-hour qualifying race mid April with Norbert Siedler, the #31 Porsche is already a fixed entry for this weekend’s Top 30 Qualifying. Siedler’s lap also secured one of the coveted “blue lights” that are a vital option for the fastest cars in 24-hour race. The blinking blue light behind the windscreen warns slower competitors that they are about to be lapped by a top car. The Frikadelli GT3 R with Arnold, Müller, Henzler and Campbell can also still reach the Top 30 and the blue light depending on the lap times in both qualifying sessions on Thursday (8.30 pm until 11.30 pm) and Friday (2.55 pm until 4.45 pm). The Top 30 shoot-out where the first rows on the starting grid are decided will take place on Friday from 7.00 pm. The race start is scheduled for Saturday 3.30 pm.

“We have never been prepared for a 24-hour race more comprehensively and consistently before”, emphasizes Frikadelli Racing team principal Klaus Abbelen. We have been working on the best possible package until the final hours. Our team enters two Porsche 911 GT3 R in identical spec and with the latest development stages. Our driver line-up is formed by two pure-bred professional crew – six experience endurance and 911 specialists and two young, promising talents from Porsche’s works squad. This makes us feel very well positioned. We are looking forward to the race with all the ambition that our team is known, at the same time knowing about all the imponderables that accompany every 24-hour race.”

The 24-hour race on May 12 and 13 is the season’s highlight for fans and competitors on the Nürburgring. It’s not a part of the Endurance Championship (VLN). The 25.378 kilometre track consists of the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix circuit without the stadium section. The most important dress rehearsal was the six-hour qualification race on April 15.
