Frikadelli Racing with strong driver line-up at the 24h race

15.06.2019

In just a few days, Frikadelli Racing will be celebrating the season's highlight with the legendary 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The cult racing team from Barweiler sends after a successful preparatory phase both Porsche 911 GT3 R in the race and goes with a very strong driver squad at the start.

"Our entire team is looking forward to the 24h race and are looking forward to the weekend with great expectations. We have done everything to prepare the two vehicles optimally for this mission. Now we hope that this intensive work will ultimately pay off and we can achieve a top result. Unfortunately, it will be the last appearance of our GT3 vehicles on the Nordschleife for the next time. We will look elsewhere to avoid the eternal quarrels of the BoP on the ring”, said Klaus Abbelen.

The new red-white 911 with starting number 31 will be shared by the two Porsche works drivers Romain Dumas and Sven Müller together with the Porsche Young Professionals Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet. In this constellation, they already entered the dress rehearsal, the 6h qualifying race, and finished on a strong fourth place overall. In the sister car with number 30, the regular drivers Klaus Abbelen and Alex Müller receive support from Robert Renauer and Thomas Preining, who will join the Frikadelli Racing Team.

"With Romain Dumas we have a pilot in our squad who has already won the 24h race four times. He and Alex Müller have a lot of experience in GT sports, which is on the Nürburgring Nordschleife very important. In addition, we have with Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet the two champions of the ADAC GT Masters on board, which will be distributed to the two cars. They are just as proven long-distance or 911er specialists as Sven Müller and Matt Campbell. Our squad will be rounded off by the current champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Thomas Preining”, said Abbelen, who recently finished on the podium in the 2008 24h race with the Frikadelli Racing Team.
"Of course you like to remember this moment and hope that you can repeat that success again. In our opinion, we are in the best position for this, but the right luck is needed in a 24-hour race. "

For Frikadelli Racing, the "Race Weekend of the Year" will begin next Wednesday with the Adenauer Racing Day, during which motor racing fans will be able to experience the pilots up close and fulfill their autograph wishes. On the track, the two qualifying sessions on Thursday (20: 30-23:30) and Friday (14: 55-16:45) will be really serious for the first time. For the Frikadelli GT3 R of Abbelen, Müller, Renauer and Preining, the ticket for the individual time trial (the so-called "Top-Qualifying") has to be solved. The start number 31 of Dumas, Müller, Campbell and Jaminet is already pre-qualified for participation.

The final grid will then be determined during the Top Qualifying on Friday from 19:00 clock. The starting shot to the race twice around the clock is on Saturday at 15.30 clock. Motorsport fans will have the opportunity to follow the race across the entire distance live on RTL Nitro or in the stream at www.24h-rennen.de.
