Ready for the next development step with the Ferrari 296 GT3
11.04.2023
The preparations for the 24-hour race will continue for the Frikadelli Racing team next weekend. At the third round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, David Pittard and Felipe Laser will share the cockpit of the #30 Ferrari 296 GT3. Leon Köhler celebrates his season debut on the Nordschleife in the #111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. He grabs the steering wheel together with the two regular drivers “Jules” and Klaus Abbelen.
“Our goal is to successfully take the next development step with the Ferrari 296 GT3. I'm very confident that we've been able to eliminate a lot of construction sites thanks to the knowledge gained from the last NLS race and that we can also prove on the track next weekend that we're making progress bit by bit. With our Porsche 992 GT3 Cup we would of course like to build on the victory from the last race,” says team manager Klaus Abbelen.
At the last race of the season, "Jules" and Klaus Abbelen together with Felipe Laser won the AM classification of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring. Because Laser switched back to the Ferrari cockpit for the third NLS race, this time Leon Köhler in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup took his place. Due to numerous starts in the Porsche one-make cups, the 23-year-old has a lot of experience with the vehicle model and he is also familiar with the Frikadelli Racing team. Last season he shared the wheel with "Jules" and Klaus Abbelen in the fourth NLS race. The first joint appearance ended then directly on the podium.
Driver Voices:
Leon Köhler (#111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup): “I am really looking forward to driving on the Nordschleife again. It was a privilege for me to be able to compete for Frikadelli Racing in a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup last year, so I'm all the more pleased that I can contest a race with the team again in the new year. I am very confident that we will be successful together. Although I haven't raced on the Nordschleife this season, I think I'll get used to it again pretty quickly. Many thanks to the entire team for the renewed trust.”
Felipe Laser (#30 Ferrari 296 GT3): “Although I drove the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup for the last race, I obviously noticed that the guys ran an extensive test program with the Ferrari. I am now looking forward to building on this with David on NLS 3 and driving the development of the Ferrari 296 GT3 further.”
