20.06.2021

After the 24h race at the Nürburgring is over, the next outings for Frikadelli Racing have been decided. The team of team boss Klaus Abbelen will initially be do the official test drives in Spa-Francorchamps on June 6th, 2021 in order to prepare as best as possible for the second participation in the 24h race in the Belgian Ardennes. Then the fourth round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) is waiting at the coming weekend before they start with the LMP3 in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in Monza at the beginning of July.

“Last year we competed with Frikadelli Racing for the first time in the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race and were able to achieve eighth place overall at our premiere. We are really looking forward to participating again, after all, it is the biggest GT3 race in the world. During the test drives this week we will use a Porsche 911 GT3 R and try to collect as much data as possible over the two days ”, team boss Klaus Abbelen looks ahead.

The 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps will take place from July 31st to August 1st, 2021 and marks the start of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. Compared to the test drives, Frikadelli Racing will upgrade to two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs for the Ardennes classic. The steering wheel work in the first nine-eleven is shared by Patrick Pilet, Dennis Olsen and Porsche works driver Frédéric Makowiecki, who were already on the Nürburgring Nordschleife together in this constellation in 2021. The second vehicle is driven by the three Porsche works drivers Thomas Preining, Michael Christensen and Julien Andlauer. While Preining and Christensen have already completed a few races with Frikadelli Racing in the past, Andlauer is celebrating its premiere in the "fastest meatball in the world". A strong, six-strong driver line-up with whom one would like to top eighth place overall from last year. Pilet, Olsen and Makowiecki will contest the first test day on June 22nd, and Preining, Christensen and Andlauer will take turns at the wheel on the following day.

With two vehicles to the fourth NLS run

Frikadelli Racing will also be represented at the fourth round of the Nürburgring endurance series on June 26th. At the start of the second third of the season on the Nordschleife, team boss Klaus Abbelen will take the steering wheel himself for the first time this year. On his NLS comeback, he is supported in the # 30 Porsche 911 GT3 R by Tobias Müller, who after several successful years in "smaller classes" made the leap into a GT3 cockpit at the beginning of the 2021 season. Together they will start as a duo in the SP9 Pro-Am class. There is also the # 962 Porsche Cayman GT4 from “Jules” and Hendrik von Danwitz. After the two NLS races that have been held so far, the German-British driver team is currently the championship leader in the Pro-Am category of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy and would like to continue to defend it.

Driver comments on the VLN run:

Klaus Abbelen (# 30 Porsche 911 GT3 R): “The last race in which I took hold of the steering wheel myself was the 2020 24h race. Accordingly, there is great anticipation for the upcoming weekend. In Tobias Müller, I have a young driver by my side who has developed brilliantly on the Nordschleife in recent years and who has recently proven his potential in the Porsche 911 GT3 R in the 24-hour race. Together we aim to win the Pro-Am category."

Tobias Müller (# 30 Porsche 911 GT3 R): “I'm really looking forward to racing with Frikadelli Racing in the fourth NLS round. The team and the Frikadelli Porsche really enjoy cult status at the Nürburgring and throughout the Eifel. After driving Johannes Scheid's Eifelblitz a few years ago, it is a great honor for me to be able to move this fan favorite on the Nordschleife for the first time. I would already like to thank the entire team for their trust. "

Hendrik von Danwitz (# 962 Porsche Cayman GT4): “In the two NLS races that have taken place so far, we were able to achieve second place in the Pro-Am classification of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy. We would like to continue this series at the fourth round of the season with another top placement. Our primary goal is to collect as many points as possible for the overall ranking in the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy."
