Triple racing action for Frikadelli Racing at the Lausitzring

19.05.2024

After a break of around one month, Frikadelli Racing's racing calendar now continues in quick succession. Team Principal Klaus Abbelen's squad will first compete in the Prototype Cup Germany at the Lausitzring next weekend, before the legendary 24h Nürburgring is already on the agenda a week later.

“The next few weekends will obviously be intense, but the team is very well prepared for both events. Our initial focus is on the Prototype Cup Germany, which will host three races at the Lausitzring. That suits us very well in order to get a lot of track time with our LMP3,” says Team Principal Klaus Abbelen, who will share the wheel of the #30 Ligier JS P320 with Felipe Laser as usual.

After the opening weekend of the Prototype Cup Germany at Spa-Francorchamps had to be canceled prematurely for safety reasons, the organizers reacted and added an additional qualifying session and a third race to the program for the second stop of the season at the Lausitzring. The reason for the cancellation at the famous Ardennes rollercoaster was the poor weather conditions at the time, with snow and asphalt temperatures of just 1.5 degrees Celsius.

“Due to these external influences, we were only able to collect very little reliable data at Spa-Francorchamps. We are now looking forward to the Lausitzring with hopefully much better weather,” continued Abbelen.

After the free practice sessions, the first qualifying session is scheduled for Friday, 24/05/2024 from 11:45 - 12:00. The LMP3 cars will then start the first race from 15:05 - 16:00. The next qualifying session will follow on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 09:05 - 09:20, before the second race of the season takes place from 12:15 - 13:10. The race weekend will conclude on Sunday, 26/05/2024 with the third qualifying session from 10:20 - 10:35 and the subsequent race from 16:35 - 17:30. All sessions will be broadcast live on the Prototype Cup Germany YouTube channel.
